are we going the right direction?

7 October 2009 8 Comments

4.5 billion people have never heard the gospel in a clear way

50,000 people die each day without knowing Christ

6,000 people die each day due to lack of clean drinking water

40,000 die each day from starvation and hunger related diseases

2.5 cents on the dollar goes to international ministry

95% of seminary graduates stay in the US

Are we going the right direction?

I’m sure your question at the bottom was rhetorical, but of course the answer is “no”. But let me ask this question: What if we can’t go? My daughter has Cystic Fibrosis. Very few countries outside of the USA treat it, and when I contacted the IMB a few years ago they said that the insurance they use would not allow us overseas. Now, I’ve talked to my pastor about it, and he says that it just means it’s not for my family to go. We can support, do other things, etc, but not go. So what about that? I don’t feel excused. Yet God seems to have not only shut this door for my family, but dead-bolted it too!

    Grady,
Is the 2.5 cents only in reference to the IMB and the SBC?

I think I remember a Lifeway study a few years back that said that it was 2.5, so I assume it’s IMB/SBC.

    Grady,

I would have said yes, IF I thought for a moment that the US is “teaching, or preaching” a clear message of the Gospel.

Remember how long it took the children of Israel to turn from God after being freed from bondage and delivered from their enemies.

Remember that the Ninevites repented and turned to the Lord once but was later destroyed due to a later generation.

I live in Jacksonville, FL and did not hear a “clear” message of the Gospel for years because of man’s adgendas.

So unfortunately, there is no easy answer.

Those whom God calls and chooses will He send.

I find the whole “Great Commission” overwelming.

I hear it in your voice as well. (well typing anyway)

Let me know if you need anything.

This is His Burden. Never take it on yourself.

He gave His Life for you and you give your life in Him back to Him for His service by His strength and His provision to reach those who are perishing.

    Thank you

And in light of your stats stated above, the “Prosperity Gospel” heresy keeps growing in popularity in the U.S. church …

A man by the name of Justin Peters has placed a Biblical expose for the Health and Wealth “gospel”. A Call to Discernment.

Very informative to those who are “lost” in the church (building).
